Home Instruction

Students are expected to attend school to the fullest extent possible, but home instruction may be provided to students who have a medical or mental/emotional condition preventing them from participating in classroom instruction because they are confined to home or a healthcare facility.

Home instruction is a service provided for students who cannot attend school due to significant physical or mental health reasons that prevent a child from attending a regular or special program, even with the aid of transportation. Services are determined on an individual basis. Home instruction is designed to assist students so that they do not fall behind in classes. Approval for home instruction is developed as a result of a joint decision by the school and guardians.

Home instruction is not intended to replace instruction and is, by design, temporary. The goal of home instruction is to keep the student as current as possible with classroom instruction.
