Preschool Registration for 2019-2020 School Year Now Open SCS Preschool Logo

Sidney City Schools is proud to begin to offer preschool to children ages 3-5. Preschool registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now open.  

SHS Plans Career & College Fair

Sidney High School CBIP in conjunction with the Upper Valley Career Center (UVCC) will be hosting the annual Career and College Fair on Thursday, May 2 from 10:00AM-3:00PM. Local businesses, organizations, colleges and universities, and military groups are invited to have a booth space to share more about college, military, and career opportunities.

SHS Spring Testing

Sidney High School has been preparing for End-of-Course throughout this year in their various classes. Testing dates are upcoming. Those dates will operate differently than a normal school day. Click through to read more. 

Agarwal Advances to State NatGeo Bee Pratisth Agarwal - State Qualifier - NatGeo Bee

March 25, 2019 - Sidney Middle School fifth-grader Pratisth Agarwal, son of Krishna and Neha Agarwal, has been notified by the National Geographic Society that he is one of the semifinalists eligible to compete in the 2019 Ohio National Geographic State Bee. The state contest will be held at Winchester Trail Elementary, 6865 Gender Road, Canal Winchester, Ohio on March 29, 2019.

Sidney City Schools elementary English Language Learner (ELL) students have been working on a fun and interesting interview project as a part of their language growth.

Bridge Construction Traffic Pattern Fair Road Bridge Construction Traffic Map - 2019

February 21, 2019 - Beginning in March, construction is going to take place on the Fair Road bridge by Sidney Middle School. In anticipation of the eventual closing of lanes in the area, District administration has worked closely with the Shelby County Engineer's office to develop a modified traffic flow pattern for both Sidney Middle School and Sidney High School to alleviate congestion in this area and on our school campus for the safety of our students. Please follow the modified traffic plan during the time of construction, which is anticipated to be complete by November 2019. 

Werntz Wins Citywide Spelling Bee Werntz and Conley - Citywide Spelling Bee Champion and Runner-Up 2019

February 6, 2019 - The Sidney Citywide Spelling Bee took place Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in the Sidney Middle School auditeria. Thirteen spellers from Christian Academy Schools, Emerson Elementary, Holy Angels School, Longfellow Elementary, Northwood Elementary, Sidney Middle School, and Whittier Elementary competed for the Sidney Spelling Bee championship title.

The bee lasted twenty rounds and ended with Tatum Werntz, a sixth-grade student from Sidney Middle School, correctly spelling the word chivalrous. Keegan Conley, a fifth-grade student at Sidney Middle School, was the first runner-up. Ryan Fitchpatrick, a seventh-grade student at Holy Angels School, was the second runner-up.

Sidney Middle School fifth-grade student Pratisth Agarwal won the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee held in January. Agarwal is now one step closer to winning a $25,000 college scholarship, the grand prize at the national competition to be held in Washington D.C. May 19-22, 2019.

Sidney Alternative School Building to Close Sidney Alternative School

Over the past five years, Sidney City Schools has been able to help hundreds of students reach the ultimate educational goal of graduation thanks to the Sidney Alternative School. In recent years, however, the district has seen a decrease in the number of students needing this special service and has therefore deemed it worthwhile to absorb the alternative school program into our middle school and high school buildings.

Sidney Athletics to Raise Funds for Sidney Athletic Center Architectural Illustration of Proposed Sidney Athletic Center

Join Sidney Athletics in supporting the campaign for a new multisport athletic center. Adjoined to the Sidney Memorial Stadium, this facility will enhance the Sidney sports complex and expand indoor practice/training capacities for all sports, especially those that take place in the spring.
